FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 8, 2011

HIBBS WILL HEAD-UP COSHOCTON COUNTY FCFC

In what is being deemed a “win-win” situation for both Guernsey and Coshocton counties, Chad Hibbs has been approved to be the new part-time director of the Coshocton County Family and Children First Council.

Hibbs is also the director of the Guernsey County Family and Children First Council, and has served in that capacity for the past 7-years.

In addition, Hibbs is serving his first year of a two-year term as the president of the Ohio Family and Children First Coordinators Association.

Hibbs will work approximately 12-hours per week in Coshocton, with the balance of his time being spent on his duties in Guernsey County.

The organization decided to contract with the Guernsey County Department of Job and Family Services to share Hibbs as a part-time director.

According to Guernsey County DJFS director Kathy Jamiel, this is a perfect example of two neighboring counties sharing services.

“Given today’s economic realities, we need to look at options such as sharing resources, says Jamiel.  With the reduction of budgets in both counties, it makes perfect sense to have Chad oversee the Family and Children First Council in both counties.”

The Coshocton County FCFC approved two new staff members at its October regular meeting.  Hannah Worthington was also announced as the administrative assistant for the office, and will be in charge of the day to day office duties.

Hibbs agreed that this should be very beneficial to both Coshocton and Guernsey counties.

“The Guernsey and Coshocton County Family and Children First Councils have a similar make-up and structure, which will ease the transition, says Hibbs.  Each is focused on improving their respective educational systems, early childhood systems, and child well-being indicators.  I agree that this is a win-win for both communities, especially for future planning.”

The mission of the Family and Children First Council is to ensure an optimal quality of life by meeting the physical, educational, emotional, spiritual, and economic needs of all children and families.  By coordinating the collaborative efforts of its members, the Council plans, develops, and support services and opportunities to provide health and well-being in children and families.

The local Family and Children First Councils are mandated by the Ohio Revised Code, and exist to:  build Community Capacity; Coordinate Systems of Service; Engage and Empower Families; and Share Accountability for the Council’s Vision.

For more information about the services and operation of the County Family and Children First Councils, contact Chad Hibbs at 432-6815, or visit the organization’s website at www.guernseyfcfc.com.
